Miriam Gjerstad is a Norwegian visual artist and dancer who combines her training in fine art and various styles of middle eastern dance to create a highly individual Tribal Fusion dance expression.
After completing her BA in Fine Art at Kingston University in London, she traveled to San Francisco to study with some of the most innovative belly dancers practicing today. She earned Level 1 certifications in both the Suhaila Salimpour and Jamila Salimpour programs. Miriam is currently the only person in Norway with certifications from the Salimpour School of Dance.
Miriam has also completed General Skills for ATS® at the FatChanceBellyDance® studio. She has studied with Rachel Brice and Mira Betz, benefitting greatly from their singular approaches to teaching dance.
Miriam is a co-founder of Tribal Comets which is an American Tribal Style® bellydance troupe.
